65% Process
35% Product
5% all other grades
Process grades are based on how the student approaches his work. If a student uses all his or her time wisely, puts in his or her best effort, challenges him or herself, works diligently, ask for assistance when needed, completes the projects, works from home when necessary, participates in class activities and maintains a productive attitude in class, he or she will receive high marks in this area.
Product grades are based on the finished product, craftsmanship, level of self-challenge, timely completion, and creativity. Late work affects the product grade, however, exceptions are made for students who turn in late work due to an ambitious approach to the project.
Tardy Policy
Students are required to arrive to class on time. No student may leave class with a pass during the first and last 10 minutes of class.
Cell Phone Policy
Students may not use cell phones or other electronic devises in class except for instructional purposes under the direct supervision of the teacher.
Absences are detrimental to the student since this is a studio course and all work is done in class. Ordinarily there is no homework assigned, however when a student is absent he or she will be responsible to complete the project on time which may require working at home or attending tutorials.
